Short answer#

Short answer

RSI and MACD indicator signal risk checklist. A practical checklist for RSI/MACD signal searches: lagging indicators, timeframes, conflicting signals, false confidence and educational market-note limits.

What to check first

Market pages use real or cached-real quote data only. Why quotes can differ and how to read data-quality wording.

What not to infer

Content is educational and not investment advice. Educational content only. Not investment advice, not trading instructions, and not a result claim.

Indicators are inputs, not commands#

A crossover or overbought label can be useful context, but it is calculated from selected historical prices and parameters. It does not account for an unexpected announcement, liquidity, spread, slippage, fees, platform latency, position size or personal risk.

False confidence is common#

Indicator examples often look clear after the move because the chart already contains the outcome. Live markets can produce repeated crossovers, conflicting readings and changing conditions. A successful historical example does not establish how often the same rule failed or how it behaved after costs.

Educational notes avoid setups#

MarketPulse does not provide RSI/MACD settings, entries, exits, stops, targets, automation rules or backtest claims. The public note can describe observable movement and quote quality, but it does not convert a technical label into a recommendation or a personalized trading system.

Questions for a system claim#

Ask which market, timeframe and parameter set were tested, whether fees and slippage were included, how out-of-sample periods performed and who benefits from the sale. Regulators warn that hypothetical results and impressive testimonials can omit important assumptions and do not establish future outcomes.

Separate the calculation from execution conditions#

The same RSI or MACD calculation can appear on different data feeds while the tradable result differs because of spread, latency, order handling and fees. A chart label therefore cannot establish what price a reader could obtain or whether the rule would remain useful after real execution costs.

Key principles#

Lagging data

Indicators often summarize what already happened.

Timeframe conflict

A signal on one timeframe can conflict with another.

No settings advice

Public education cannot choose personal indicator settings.

Test assumptions

A system claim should disclose timeframe, costs, sample period and the difference between hypothetical and live results.
