Understand who controls the keys#
A custodial account and a self-custody wallet use different recovery and access models. Before moving assets, identify who can authorize transactions, how the wallet is restored, what happens if a device is lost and whether another party can freeze or recover access. An educational market note cannot decide which custody model is suitable for a reader.
Keep recovery secrets private#
A seed phrase, private key, backup code or wallet password can give control over assets. Do not enter those secrets into a signal page, chat, support message, screen-sharing session or unexpected recovery form. A legitimate educational note does not need wallet credentials, remote access or a signed transaction.
Verify every address and signing request#
Check the network, full destination address, asset, amount and requested permissions using a trusted display before approving a transfer or signature. Treat urgent token approvals, unfamiliar contracts, address changes and requests to pay a fee to unlock funds as warning signs. A screenshot or copied label is not enough to verify the destination.
Separate wallet security from price context#
